I received a recommendation from a reader for the Sunday lunch at The Lord Northbrook in Lee, Lewisham (London). We were at a loose end one Sunday, so decided to give it a go. The venue itself was well decorated, grey and black walls / flooring. The tables were nicely laid out, and loads of room for pushchairs. The Sunday lunch itself was good, although lacked flavourings. The fondant wasn’t gooey, so I ordered the sticky toffee pudding instead – which was excellent. A great pub for families, we will definitely be back to The Lord Northbrook for another Sunday roast.

Paradise by Way of Kensal Green, Brent
Paradise by Way of Kensal Green in Brent was somewhere we were really looking forward to having a Sunday lunch. The venue was very eclectic in decoration, with bird cages and books around the place. The roast lamb and roast beef were excellent but unfortunately the chicken was a bit of a let down.
Overall, come here for a special dinner during the week, or even on a Saturday, but we felt the Sunday lunch wasn’t good value.

We were invited to visit Charlotte’s Bistro in Chiswick, West London – they knew we were coming, hence I haven’t given a score. A delicious Sunday lunch, with very tender roast beef, I really enjoyed the cauliflower cheese! The service was impeccable – definitely worth visiting if you have a celebration.

I was extremely excited to have the chance to eat at Bread Street Kitchen in One New Change, nr St Pauls, London. We visited for Father’s Day, so booked for 3 adults and a baby (JW – who was 16 month-ish at the time). The Sunday lunch was good, especially the crunchy roast potatoes and flavoursome roast chicken. The children’s meat balls were far too expensive, and I felt we were being charged quite a bit for the drinks. Overall, a respectable 3.5/5 for Sunday lunch at Bread Street Kitchen.

I booked the Bridge House in Penge, Lewisham on one Sunday – I had actually been there once before and enjoyed the food. I explained the dietary requirements for JW (gluten, wheat and dairy free) and was told all would be ok with the roast, apart from the Yorkshire. In fact, this was incorrect – JW ended up having roast beef and chips, for the same money as a kids roast! Overall, the food was ok, but this mishap really spoilt our experience. Go if you live in the area and do not have any dietary requirements.
