We had eaten at The Oak a couple of time previously, but we didn’t manage to review the Sunday lunch. For Easter Sunday, 8 of us decided to visit for a roast. Our booking was just after they had received a table of 20, so the food was understandably slower than usual. The Sunday lunch was quite nice, unfortunately the desserts were a bit of a let down. Overall, a family friendly pub to go if you are local to the area.

Best Sunday Roast lunch review of pubs and restaurants in Bromley, Kent
The Bricklayers Arms, Bromley
We were looking for somewhere we hadn’t reviewed before in Bromley (we’re running out of places) – I had been suggested The Bricklayers Arms previously so booked for one Sunday for lunch with friends. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but this is first and foremost a pub. Great selection of beers, I thoroughly recommend visiting if you are local and after a quiet drink rather than the Sunday lunch.

Having been recommended Lujon in Keston previously, I recently found out they had been refurbished and renamed “Herberts”. The service here was excellent, from being met at the front door to having a dessert especially made for our toddler, off menu (a wonderful Fig and mango fruit salad!). The main courses were large, with a lot of sides (including cauliflower cheese). Also, it was quite reasonably priced, being 2 courses for £19.95, or 3 for £22.95. All in all, one of the Best Sunday Roasts we’ve had in Bromley and well worth visiting!

Our second visit at The Bulls Head Hotel in Chislehurst – not as good as the first, but only marginally so. The food was good, especially the portion sizes! It was great to have 4 roast potatoes, but we felt there were some issues with dietary requirements and service. Overall a very good 4.5 / 5.

Having been recommended to try the Sunday lunch at the newly opened The Chancery in Beckenham, Bromley, I decided to give it a visit. Booking was easy, as was parking on the road outside. You can tell they have spent some money doing the venue up. I ordered the roast beef, Claire had a supreme of chicken and JW had the kids roast chicken breast. The lunch was nice, the portion size was good – I’d have preferred slightly better roast potatoes but overall a good experience at The Chancery. Worth visiting if you live in the surrounding area.
