I received a recommendation from a reader for the Sunday lunch at The Lord Northbrook in Lee, Lewisham (London). We were at a loose end one Sunday, so decided to give it a go. The venue itself was well decorated, grey and black walls / flooring. The tables were nicely laid out, and loads of room for pushchairs. The Sunday lunch itself was good, although lacked flavourings. The fondant wasn’t gooey, so I ordered the sticky toffee pudding instead – which was excellent. A great pub for families, we will definitely be back to The Lord Northbrook for another Sunday roast.

I was extremely excited to have the chance to eat at Bread Street Kitchen in One New Change, nr St Pauls, London. We visited for Father’s Day, so booked for 3 adults and a baby (JW – who was 16 month-ish at the time). The Sunday lunch was good, especially the crunchy roast potatoes and flavoursome roast chicken. The children’s meat balls were far too expensive, and I felt we were being charged quite a bit for the drinks. Overall, a respectable 3.5/5 for Sunday lunch at Bread Street Kitchen.

As we were going to Old Street for a friend’s party, I decided to book Sunday lunch at Tramshed in Shoreditch for the three of us (Claire, me and our 20 month old son, JW). Parking was extremely difficult, almost as bad as Brighton, but I managed to find a free(!) space a few minutes walk away. Outside, the venue is very unimposing – a simple arch with an entrance either side. Inside was a vast warehouse, with a Damian Hirst installation! The food, with an interesting presentation of the Roast Chicken and free kid’s minute steak, was excellent. The service was good, and the bill was very reasonable indeed.
Certainly a Top Rated Award for Tramshed in Shoreditch, East London.

Chiswell Street Dining Rooms in Islington, London is the sister pub to The Jugged Hare, almost right next door! (you can read the Sunday lunch review of The Jugged Hare here). We had a great time here, the Sunday lunch was superb. The meat was cooked properly, and a lot was provided. I loved the small dishes the various side dishes came in. The venue decor was nice and fresh and the service excellent!
A wholeheartedly Top Rated Sunday lunch in Islington.

I have visited a number of times for beers over the years, so I was looking forward to reviewing the Sunday lunch at The Phoenix in Denmark Hill, London. The venue is part of Denmark Hill rail station, and they carry a train theme through the pub (with a large clock hanging from the ceiling). They have a great selection of craft beers available, as well as decent priced wine. The Sunday lunch was reasonably priced between £11.75 for Roast Chicken to £13.00 for Roast Beef. The roast was ok, I wasn’t keen on the vegetables, but the desserts were superb. they scored a respectable 3.5 out of 5.
