It was just on an off chance that we visited The Beacon in Royal Tunbridge Wells – and I am so glad we did! The views were amazing, the food was superb (my lamb was delicious, as were the roast potatoes). The service was equally as good. This was an impeccable Sunday lunch and well deserves the Top Rated award! Suitable for everyone, from family celebrations through to couples having a romantic meal.

We were invited to visit Charlotte’s Bistro in Chiswick, West London – they knew we were coming, hence I haven’t given a score. A delicious Sunday lunch, with very tender roast beef, I really enjoyed the cauliflower cheese! The service was impeccable – definitely worth visiting if you have a celebration.

We were looking for another Sunday lunch in Ealing and found The Haven Arms.
The roast pork wasn’t available (at 2pm!), but the roast chicken tasted excellent, the best flavour for a long time. The potatoes were a bit dry and there were strange inconsistencies of the vegetables. The service was a bit slow too… It would be best to book in advance as it was extremely busy when we were there.
We would like to give it another go earlier in the day as it may have just been a one off… Overall, Sunday lunch at The Haven Arms scores a respectable 3.5/5 plates.

Sunday lunch at The Fox Inn in Hanwell was ok. It was a nice enough pub and very popular with local families and walkers (dogs were allowed). A good selection of roasts were available, priced slightly higher than their website. It was pleasing to have cauliflower cheese served too. I didn’t really like the gravy served with my lamb but the rest of the meal was alright.
This is a community pub, so would have been great if we lived round the corner and were able to pop in for drinks.

The Star & Anchor in Ealing, London was a new pub, replacing the previous cocktail bar, Baroque. A great venue on Ealing Broadway, an oasis on the busy main road. Claire chose the Roast Beef, which was plentiful and tasted great. I had the Roast Lamb, it was amazing. Large slices of meat. The homemade Yorkshire pudding was huge!
If you are in Ealing, you must go to The Star & Anchor for one of the Best Sunday Roasts in Ealing – you will not be disappointed.
