I was looking for an area we hadn’t visited before to review, and decided on Epping, Essex. The Theydon Oak came up in my search – it was an ok lunch, the Sunday roast lacked flavour, but the desserts were great. What really made the lunch was the outside kids play area, it was certainly very special. Overall, 3 out of 5, suitable for family lunches.

I had high hopes with Sunday lunch at The Ivy House, but unfortunately we were let down. Parking was good, and the location great – right on the high street. It seemed that they were understaffed though as service was slow, and the pork belly wasn’t very nice. Also, they didn’t have a high chair so JW was balanced on cushions (and almost had a nasty fall). If you live in the area, give a go otherwise there are better places to visit.

Having been recommended The Three Chimneys by a few people, I decided to book close to Claire’s birthday for Sunday lunch, and I am so glad that I did! The service was excellent, the very best we have had. The food was delicious and superb venue too. A great place for celebrations or romantic meals alike.

We were visiting my Dad for Father’s Day and decided to try the Sunday lunch at The Rose and Crown in Pluckley, Kent (near Ashford). I am very glad we did! The food was delicious, the beef cooked to my (requested) liking, super roast potatoes and gravy. The outdoor space meant our child could run outside and burn off some energy. A Top Rated Sunday lunch.

The food was good, as were the portions. Overall, we felt it was great for a small family Sunday lunch and worth visiting if you are in the area.
