We were holidaying in Suffolk and were able to meet some family for Sunday lunch. The Swan at Lavenham had been on my list for a while now, so it was the perfect opportunity to visit it, and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent, as was the venue (with a pianist!) and the food. Definitely worth visiting The Swan at Lavenham!

When looking for a venue in London to take 10 people, I found the Malmaison on Charterhouse Square near Farringdon. Booking was easy, as was the parking. The restaurant was very stylish, with black glass tables, bare brick walls and booths. The chef’s table as an appetizer meant we could get stuck into food immediately. The Sunday lunch was excellent, especially the roast potatoes! The dessert was equally as good. At £19.95 for 4 courses, a great value Sunday lunch at the Malmaison in London.

The Eden restaurant is part of Pinewood Hotel, we were really looking forward to a Sunday lunch in Slough. The dining area was lovely with great attention to detail. There was also a large garden for events.
The Sunday lunch was cooked to perfection, with crisp vegetables served for the both of us to share. the potatoes were good, as well as the meat and also a bed of roasted onions. A highly recommended Sunday lunch.

Having visited a sister venue in Tunbridge Wells, we were looking forward to a relaxing Sunday lunch at Hotel du Vin in Brighton, East Sussex. It didn’t quite turn out that way due to the very wet weather, but we really enjoyed the lunch – completely stuffed after the great value 4 courses. Roast potatoes could have been nicer, but a well deserved 4.5/5… Have a read to find out more.

We wanted to visit Ruth Watson’s Crown & Castle in Orford in Woodbridge, Suffolk for a while and had the opportunity to review. It was based almost opposite Orford Castle, with a beautiful white Tudor style frontage. The venue inside was just as nice. The service was good, we were looked after throughout the meal. We did feel quite awkward with JW though, not the place to bring a 7 month old baby! The food was mostly excellent, although the desserts were disappointing. It was a bit difficult to justify the pricing of this, at £28 for two courses it’s one of the most expensive we have reviewed.
Overall, a good Sunday lunch at The Crown and Castle in Orford, one to visit if you have some deeper pockets, and without a child!
