The Old Queens Head, Islington

Being the sister pub of The Paradise by Way of Kensal Green we decided to review the Sunday roast at The Old Queens Head after receiving an email offer through Keynoir.

Excellent decor, with a quirky feel such as a deer’s head mounted on the wall and chandeliers. The roast beef and lamb were excellent, but there was disappointment with the roast chicken. The apple crumble was excellent.

So, for a Sunday lunch in Islington with friends, we would recommend giving The Old Queens Head a go.

Star & Anchor, Ealing

The Star & Anchor in Ealing, London was a new pub, replacing the previous cocktail bar, Baroque. A great venue on Ealing Broadway, an oasis on the busy main road. Claire chose the Roast Beef, which was plentiful and tasted great. I had the Roast Lamb, it was amazing. Large slices of meat. The homemade Yorkshire pudding was huge!

If you are in Ealing, you must go to The Star & Anchor for one of the Best Sunday Roasts in Ealing – you will not be disappointed.

The Bells, Staines

In the home town of Ali G, we had to find a Sunday lunch in Staines. John found a place call The Bells.

The staff were friendly, and there was a good collection of meats, being pork, lamb or beef. The plates were served with meat, potables and yorkshire, with a separate serving dish for the vegetables. A good serving of each, so our plates were stacked full! The desserts were delicious too, especially the profiterole cake.

Overall, definitely a Sunday lunch in Staines worth having.

The Hole In The Wall, Chiswick

I was looking for a Sunday lunch in Chiswick and found The Hole In The Wall. We didn’t book, so when we turned up and they only had a small table in the corner, we couldn’t be too disappointed.

It did get very busy too. The Sunday lunch wasn’t great to be honest, and the service was quite poor.

The Fat Badger, Notting Hill

We decided on The Fat Badger in Notting Hill as it was advertised to offer a Table Top Roast. This sounded perfect for John’s birthday. The decoration was quirky and fun – the wallpaper, on closer inspection were actually scenes of London with cartoon cops and robbers.

The table top roast was excellent, we were able to serve our own food. The service was also very good and overall an enjoyable Sunday lunch in Notting Hill.
