The Royal Oak, Romney Marsh

As avid Sunday lunch fans, we have regularly had Romney Marsh lamb, so decided we must go somewhere to give it a go. We settled on having Sunday lunch at The Royal Oak, Brooklands in Romney Marsh, Kent.

We arrived a bit earlier and settled in the bar for a quick drink. The pub area was nice and clean, the owners obviously take care of it. The service here was ok, but unfortunately my Yorkshire pudding was completely burnt. Also, the roast potatoes were burnt on one site. It’s a shame, as the Romney Marsh lamb was nice and delicate. Claire’s lunch was very nice though, so I think this was more of a one off.

The Moody Cow, Upton Bishop

Sunday lunch The Moody Cow pub and restaurant in Upton Bishop was wonderful. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, I especially liked the pork duo, being served with both the pork belly as well as a loin. The roast potatoes were the star of the show, being really crunchy.

The venue was amazing, with a neo-gothic feature wall, large comfortable looking sofas and a wood-burning stove. This was a very special venue with an excellent Sunday lunch. A Best Sunday lunch at The Moody Cow in Herefordshire and well worth a visit.

The Swan at The Globe, London

I was looking for another Sunday lunch in London and decided to give The Swan at The Globe a go.

I am very pleased we did. Our food was excellent, it was between £14 – £16 for a main course, choices such as Pork Belly, Roast Beef and Roast Chicken. The meat quality was good, the vegetable selection included shredded cabbage, chantry carrots and cauliflower cheese. The Yorkshire pudding also nice. Service was great, being on hand whenever we needed them without being intrusive.

Suitable for families, couples, romantic meals or Sunday lunch with friends. Top Rated Sunday lunch for The Swan at The Globe.

The Jugged Hare, Islington

We reviewed Sunday lunch at Chiswell Street Dining Rooms, a sister venue of The Jugged Hare, a couple of months ago with great success. Claire and I were invited along to the launch party of The Jugged Hare, so we knew the layout of the venue and what to expect decor-wise. We also had the chance to sample the food via canapes. Something we didn’t get to try, and I really wanted to, was their Sunday lunches.

So, a couple of weeks after the launch party, I arranged Sunday lunch at The Jugged Hare for my birthday meal. This did mean driving to Islington for a Sunday roast, but it was definitely worth it!

The Farmhouse, West Malling

We were looking to have sunday lunch with my aunt, uncle and their children in West Malling. The Farmhouse is quite a well known pub in the area, winning a number of awards with the likes of Top Table. It was a toss up between this pub or The Swan. We decided to have our Sunday roast at The Farmhouse – it was slightly cheaper (and we had not eaten there before).

The restaurant area felt almost like a country inn, with lots of wood and dark browns. The service was good, the food was excellent and we were very pleased we chose to have our Sunday lunch here. A recommended roast and a must visit. This pub would be suitable for celebrations, father’s day, mother’s day, a romantic lunch or just meeting up with friends and family…
