We visited The Moody Mare in Mereworth near West Malling, Kent. Really good that they were able to serve a mixed roast – it came with beef, pork and chicken. The cauliflower and broccoli cheese was quite good, but the slow service let the experience down. If you are in the area, then perhaps give it a go if you have spare time – suitable for families as well as couples.

We had visited The Shortlands Taverns to watch some rugby previously, when I saw they offered Sunday lunches I made sure we visited the following Sunday. Make sure you reserve a table, there were a lot of disappointed people would hadn’t. A very good place for families, with a menu for children, low salt Sunday lunches and clean baby changing facilities. Also, they are members of Brestfeeding Welcome Scheme, so mothers with young babies should also feel welcome here. Overall, the Sunday lunch was nice and worth a visit, if just to experience the local community pub.

After looking for a Sunday lunch near Maidstone, I settled on The Dirty Habit in Hollingborne, a sister pub of The Vineyard and The Farmhouse. The 11 Century pub certainly had character, and I was pleased with the service initially, The roast potatoes were good, as were the vegetables. My Sticky Toffee Pudding was very sweet (a good thing), and certainly ensured I received the sugar hit I wanted. Unfortunately though, it took over 20 minutes just to receive the bill, so not one to go to if you are in a rush.

A friend highly recommended The Snail in Sevenoaks, so I booked up for a lunch when the opportunity arose. Ample parking meant a stress free arrival, which continued throughout the meal. We ate in the restaurant, the staff were welcoming and helpful with our 20 month old, JW. In fact, one of the best family lunches we have had on this site. The food was superb, with extremely tender meat and an excellent Yorkshire pudding.
Overall, a Top Rated Sunday lunch for The Snail in Sevenoaks.

As The George in Egerton was close by to my father’s house, it made sense to pop along for a Sunday lunch with the family. A local pub with a good Sunday lunch including a mixed platter – they even offered a vegetarian roast! A great place to go for a hungry family.
