We were going to be popping out to Claire’s sister’s house one Sunday to see our nephews, so I wanted to find somewhere for lunch on the way back. Dartford was a good bet, and after a bit of investigation, we settled on The Malt Shovel. The Sunday lunch here was excellent, such a large quantity of food, the roast meats were nice, and cauliflower cheese a one off!
We definitely recommend going to The Malt Shovel in Dartford for a Sunday roast.
Read More...We wanted to have another Sunday lunch in Sevenoaks, so after much searching online, I found The Fox and Hounds nr Brasted, Westerham in Kent. I had a very good roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, Claire had roast pork with crackling. The roast potatoes were very nice, as was the great selection of vegetables. Also, the service was very good, always attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a highly recommended Sunday lunch.
Read More...As seems to be a habit at the moment, I looked in the fridge at the large joint of lamb and decided we should pop out for a Sunday roast. This time, Sunday lunch in Chislehurst was on the cards. I found out about The Sydney Arms on their website and as it was only 15 minutes drive away, I decided to give it a go.
The venue itself was suitable for families as well as dogs (they have a large garden outside). It seemed to be a family-run establishment, and felt very “local”. The lunch was pleasant enough though and if you have children, it may be worth a visit.
Read More...As we were over in Ascot, I wanted to find a lunch to have on the way home to Bromley. I found The Black Swan in Ockham, Surrey and booked it through Open Table (the booking engine on their website) for 12:45pm.
We arrived earlier than expected, so took the opportunity to relax with papers in a chair in front of the open fire. We were shown to a very small table, so I was thankful that when someone moved we could change to a different one. The Sunday lunch here was very good, although the vegetables were a bit strange – having a large amount of red cabbage and not much else. The meat was excellent quality though.
Overall, a recommended Sunday lunch in Ockham – just remember to bring a large wallet.
Read More...We visited The Frog & Wickett in Eversley for Sunday lunch because we wanted to meet our friend Mik for his birthday. The Sunday roasts were around £10 each, and we could have as much potatoes, yorkshire puddings and gravy as we liked… this sounded like a great deal, and perfect for us!
The food portion was huge, I have no idea how someone could ask for more roast potatoes! The service was great, always cheerful and happy to help. There was a happy atmosphere, with general good natured local pub characters. If you are looking for a decent Sunday lunch then The Frog & Wickett in Eversley are worth a visit.
