With a pilgrimage to IKEA on the cards, I had to book a Sunday lunch in Croydon to soften the blow – and found Alberts Table. A smart restaurant, with great food. It was let down a bit by the slow service during the meal, so I recommend going but only with teenage or older children, or as a couple.

We were looking at visiting Bromley Court Hotel for a while now, and finally had the chance to review one Sunday. The large garden was welcome with a toddler. The food presentation was good, but unfortunately the quality of the meat was poor. Overall, ok for older people without children, but there are better places in Bromley.

A Sunday lunch review of The Bell Inn in Godstone, Surrey. A sister pub in fact to The Plough in Eynsford, amongst others, so we had high hopes of the food and we were not disappointed. The starters were enjoyable, as was the Sunday roast. The potatoes were excellent, the Yorkshire pudding huge! A very enjoyable, family friendly pub and worthy of the Top Rated award.

We had visit another of Richard Phillips’s establishments, Pearson’s Arms in Whitstable. So, when I found out he has another in Hollingborne in Maidstone, we had to give it a shot. Sunday lunch here was superb, our roast very tasty (especially the potatoes). It was great that the kids roast was free, making the Sunday lunch really good value (3 courses for £19.95).
The Windmill is definitely one for families to visit for Sunday lunch. Top Rated!

Having visited all the venues within the Elite Pub Group, when I heard there was a new one open (called The Potting Shed), I knew it wouldn’t take long before we visited :-) I booked a table for the 3 of us on New Years Day. The venue was excellent, very airy with lots of large windows to let in the light, even on the dull, rainy day. The service was superb, I almost felt we were imposing on the staff – the waiter even cut up JW’s beef without being asked (we would have done it). Nothing seemed too much trouble. The food quality was excellent, I loved the mixed roast, and the creme brulee was good (although, couldn’t see any vanilla seeds). A Top Rated Sunday lunch!
