I was looking for a Sunday lunch close to home and found The Bull Hotel, Wrotham in Sevenoaks, Kent – it was highly rated by a number of places, which meant we just had to give it a go. The venue was great – a country pub in a beautiful village. The service was so good, they were very welcoming towards us and our baby, John William. The food presentation was excellent, as was the quality and taste. Overall, a superb Sunday lunch at The Bull Hotel and well worth travelling to visit.

Our second visit at The Bulls Head Hotel in Chislehurst – not as good as the first, but only marginally so. The food was good, especially the portion sizes! It was great to have 4 roast potatoes, but we felt there were some issues with dietary requirements and service. Overall a very good 4.5 / 5.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch at the Two Brewers in Shoreham, near Sevenoaks in Kent. The venue was fun inside, with lots of things on the walls, along with a small fish tank. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the gingernut cheesecake for dessert too. Overall a Top Rated Sunday lunch, recommended for couples and lunch with friends.

When looking for a venue in London to take 10 people, I found the Malmaison on Charterhouse Square near Farringdon. Booking was easy, as was the parking. The restaurant was very stylish, with black glass tables, bare brick walls and booths. The chef’s table as an appetizer meant we could get stuck into food immediately. The Sunday lunch was excellent, especially the roast potatoes! The dessert was equally as good. At £19.95 for 4 courses, a great value Sunday lunch at the Malmaison in London.

We wanted to visit Ruth Watson’s Crown & Castle in Orford in Woodbridge, Suffolk for a while and had the opportunity to review. It was based almost opposite Orford Castle, with a beautiful white Tudor style frontage. The venue inside was just as nice. The service was good, we were looked after throughout the meal. We did feel quite awkward with JW though, not the place to bring a 7 month old baby! The food was mostly excellent, although the desserts were disappointing. It was a bit difficult to justify the pricing of this, at £28 for two courses it’s one of the most expensive we have reviewed.
Overall, a good Sunday lunch at The Crown and Castle in Orford, one to visit if you have some deeper pockets, and without a child!
