I was looking for a Sunday lunch in Theale, near Reading, and found The Winning Hand. As it was a country pub, the outside had character. The standard of food presentation was high, each course looked inviting. The speed of service near the end of the meal did tarnish the experience a bit, but only because we were in a hurry to get back.
Overall, a recommended Sunday lunch at The Winning Hand and we would visit again.
Read More...We were visiting St Margaret’s Bay in Dover for a family event and decided to stay over for the weekend. I never miss an opportunity to review a new venue, so with this in mind I found The White Cliffs in St Margaret’s at Cliff. Booking was easy, and we arrived to be shown to our seats in a light, airy room. The Sunday lunch here was excellent, with a special mention to the cauliflower cheese. Our roast beef was cooked well, and the rest of the vegetables were enjoyable. My chocolate brownie dessert was the star though, with a wonderful marzipan ice cream.

Read More...With events conspiring against us, we had to change our plans of visiting Greenwich and went to The Queens Head in Bromley instead for Sunday lunch. A pub in the centre of Chislehurst, it was very busy with weekend drinkers and diners. The food was a bit below par unfortunately, but the service and venue brought this Sunday lunch up to a 2.5 star. One to go with friends and family for a bit of a Sunday afternoon session… and having a burger.
Read More...As The George in Egerton was close by to my father’s house, it made sense to pop along for a Sunday lunch with the family. A local pub with a good Sunday lunch including a mixed platter – they even offered a vegetarian roast! A great place to go for a hungry family.
Read More...The Tiger’s Head had been a glaring omission from our Bromley reviews, so this had to be rectified. I booked a table for lunch for 4 people plus our baby JW (who’s 15 months old). The pub had recently been refurbished, and looked very good for it! It felt like a contemporary country dining venue, with light walls and exposed beams. The Sunday best lamb shoulder was very good, and the main roasts were reasonably priced. All in all, a recommended Sunday lunch at The Tiger’s Head in Chislehurst, Bromley.
