Our very overstocked Tea Drawer

Claire and I are avid tea drinkers – one of our kitchen drawers is so full of tea, I have difficulty shutting it!  Interestingly enough (for me, anyway!), we do not actually have any PG Tips, Tetley etc… I prefer various flavours of green tea or “functional” tea such as chamomile, honey and vanilla.

I recently discovered Twinings new flavours of green tea, including Pomegranate Green Tea.  A great smell, and very different from the usual green teas – as long as you lightly brew it for a minute or so.

I work close by to the Twinings Shop on The Strand.  This was the very first Twinings Tea Shop, where you can buy a lot larger selection of teas and coffees compared to what is available in the supermarket.  Personally, I prefer “whole leaf” tea, so I normally buy their Gunpowder Moroccan Green Tea & Mint.  The unique aspect of the shop is that out the back, there is actually a place you can brew your own tea!  My friend and i quite often pop along for a cuppa during lunch, and I end up walking out with more teas – this partly explains why the kitchen drawer is so full!

So, much favourite teas are as follows:

Great after a heavy meal – I do not drink coffee, so this is a good alternative for me.  The instructions are a bit different from “normal” teas, where you boil the kettle and let it rest for 5 minutes.  Then, pour over the tea leaves and let steep for 5 minutes.  This will create a thicker elixir than usual:
Twinings Gunpower Mint Green Tea – £5.00 for 150g

Ginger is thought to have respiratory benefits, and lemon compliments this with a supposed detox.  I like the flavour strong, so whilst you are only supposed leave the bag in the cup / teapot for a few minutes, I actually leave it in whilst I am drinking it too!
Twinings Ginger & Lemon Tea (a classic!) – £1.19 for 20 bags

Ginseng is reported to have revitalising properties, the blackcurrant and vanilla give the tea a nice aroma.
Twinings Blackcurrant, Ginseng & Vanilla – £1.25 for 20 bags

Twinings offer free delivery if you spend over £35 online… easily done – get yourself a nice new tea-pot and some teas from above…

No offers at the moment with Twinings unfortunately, but go here to visit the site and find out more about their teas.
