John - I really wanted this to appear under the review of the Fox at Hanwell but could not manage to submit it there. I wanted to point out that everyone says this is a community pub - this holds true if you happen to like a pub that is always full of young children and dogs of various shapes and sizes. If on the other hand you like a quiet drink and conversation without children rushing around and dogs sniffing you and your food then perhaps it is not so good ! As a local resident I gave up drinking here for those reasons - I fully understand that others with young children and dogs think of it as a Godsend, and good wishes to them. The reality for all other residents is the constant dearth of parking, noise from the side door where smokers gather not 10 yards from the houses and children running up and down the street at all hours screaming, playing ball games and skateboarding. The owners have turned this pub around to be a great success BUT not all locals share their ideals on what a pub should be. I have made my choice and am content for the pub to continue in the same vein but would only ask that the tranquility of this lovely part of Hanwell is respected for ALL locals and that clientele are reminded of this by the staff and restrict their youngsters to the pub and it's garden. That way we can coexist and everyone is content. THANK YOU.

The Fox is definitely my favourite Hanwell pub, for the friendly, relaxed atmosphere and the range of drinks.

I enjoy sitting back in the beer garden on a sunny day with an iced cider and admiring other people's dogs. The other day a couple were in with an impressive eight dogs, all different shapes and sizes!

John, Dolphin is definitely one to review. It is now "INN ON THE GREEN" and has undergone some changes in design and in management in two years. Now a friendlier and busier place so give it another go.

Thanks for the nice comments about The Fox, and about Hanwell Carnival too. :-)

Claire was going to choose the nut roast as well, so very pleased she didn't! The meat was ok, it's more of a family/local pub than anything else...

We went to The Dolphin a couple of years ago, didn't really feel the love of the place, it was a bit dark and cold. Would you agree, or is it one to review?

We used to live at the top of Green Lane, after living just a block over from the Fox on Billets Hart Close. We never fully got on board with the Fox, TBH. The guest beers were always different but somehow the same. And the nut roast usually tasted like it had been defrosted, with once-frozen veg.

We did love how dog friendly they were (the Dolphin up the road always was too) and it was a nice mix of locals and people passing by on the canal.

But not so into the food.
