I was looking for an area we hadn't visited before to review, and decided on Epping, Essex. The Theydon Oak came up in my search - it was an ok lunch, the Sunday roast lacked flavour, but the desserts were great. What really made the lunch was the outside kids play area, it was certainly very special. Overall, 3 out of 5, suitable for family lunches.

I received a recommendation from a reader for the Sunday lunch at The Lord Northbrook in Lee, Lewisham (London). We were at a loose end one Sunday, so decided to give it a go. The venue itself was well decorated, grey and black walls / flooring. The tables were nicely laid out, and loads of room for pushchairs. The Sunday lunch itself was good, although lacked flavourings. The fondant wasn't gooey, so I ordered the sticky toffee pudding instead - which was excellent. A great pub for families, we will definitely be back to The Lord Northbrook for another Sunday roast.

I was not disappointed - the sharing roast lamb was delicious, as were the roast potatoes. The staff were friendly and welcoming. A venue for a casual lunch or celebration with the family - Top Rated!

We were looking for a Sunday lunch in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. A friend suggested The Black Pig. The pub looked interesting so we thought we'd give it a go. Service was very good here, always on hand in case we needed anything. The starter was good, and the roast beef was excellent, as were the roast potatoes and vegetables. The passionfruit cheesecake was notably well presentated, and tasty too!

Definitely recommend visiting for Sunday lunch at The Black Pig in Royal Tunbridge Wells!

The Bridge Hotel in Greenford was a pub / hotel fairly close to home so we decided to book it for Sunday lunch with some friends.

We had the option of beef, chicken, pork or a trio. Claire and Abi chose roast chicken, Phil and I chose the trio. After an extremely long time to wait, our food was brought out. It wasn't great, the beef and pork was very tough. the chicken was very good though. Dessert were a bit strange. The service was good but it was an average lunch.

I have visited a number of times for beers over the years, so I was looking forward to reviewing the Sunday lunch at The Phoenix in Denmark Hill, London. The venue is part of Denmark Hill rail station, and they carry a train theme through the pub (with a large clock hanging from the ceiling). They have a great selection of craft beers available, as well as decent priced wine. The Sunday lunch was reasonably priced between £11.75 for Roast Chicken to £13.00 for Roast Beef. The roast was ok, I wasn't keen on the vegetables, but the desserts were superb. they scored a respectable 3.5 out of 5.

We had eaten at The Oak a couple of time previously, but we didn't manage to review the Sunday lunch. For Easter Sunday, 8 of us decided to visit for a roast. Our booking was just after they had received a table of 20, so the food was understandably slower than usual. The Sunday lunch was quite nice, unfortunately the desserts were a bit of a let down. Overall, a family friendly pub to go if you are local to the area.
