We were visiting Camber Sands for a week on holiday, I booked Sunday lunch at The Gallivant. It is a hotel on the main road from Rye, and had a large car park outside for easy parking. The restaurant is a relaxing but smart venue, with excellent food - especially the roast beef and sundae dessert. It is higher priced than most places, but we felt it was worth the extra. Suitable for family celebrations, The Gallivant is Top Rated!

This certainly was a wildcard - a rundown hotel, probably damaged by fire. It seemed like they were going through renovations, but taking their time with it! The food was good, lots of curly kale and nice roast beef - but some of our party found it unpleasant eating in room with extensive fire damage!

The Bridge Hotel in Greenford was a pub / hotel fairly close to home so we decided to book it for Sunday lunch with some friends.

We had the option of beef, chicken, pork or a trio. Claire and Abi chose roast chicken, Phil and I chose the trio. After an extremely long time to wait, our food was brought out. It wasn't great, the beef and pork was very tough. the chicken was very good though. Dessert were a bit strange. The service was good but it was an average lunch.

Having visited a sister venue in Tunbridge Wells, we were looking forward to a relaxing Sunday lunch at Hotel du Vin in Brighton, East Sussex. It didn't quite turn out that way due to the very wet weather, but we really enjoyed the lunch - completely stuffed after the great value 4 courses. Roast potatoes could have been nicer, but a well deserved 4.5/5... Have a read to find out more.

The Eden restaurant is part of Pinewood Hotel, we were really looking forward to a Sunday lunch in Slough. The dining area was lovely with great attention to detail. There was also a large garden for events.

The Sunday lunch was cooked to perfection, with crisp vegetables served for the both of us to share. the potatoes were good, as well as the meat and also a bed of roasted onions. A highly recommended Sunday lunch.

When looking for a venue in London to take 10 people, I found the Malmaison on Charterhouse Square near Farringdon. Booking was easy, as was the parking. The restaurant was very stylish, with black glass tables, bare brick walls and booths. The chef's table as an appetizer meant we could get stuck into food immediately. The Sunday lunch was excellent, especially the roast potatoes! The dessert was equally as good. At £19.95 for 4 courses, a great value Sunday lunch at the Malmaison in London.

We wanted to visit Ruth Watson's Crown & Castle in Orford in Woodbridge, Suffolk for a while and had the opportunity to review. It was based almost opposite Orford Castle, with a beautiful white Tudor style frontage. The venue inside was just as nice. The service was good, we were looked after throughout the meal. We did feel quite awkward with JW though, not the place to bring a 7 month old baby! The food was mostly excellent, although the desserts were disappointing. It was a bit difficult to justify the pricing of this, at £28 for two courses it's one of the most expensive we have reviewed.

Overall, a good Sunday lunch at The Crown and Castle in Orford, one to visit if you have some deeper pockets, and without a child!

I had heard good things about The Bull Hotel in Gerrards Cross. I booked that morning for the three of us to have a Sunday lunch carvery. The roast itself was very good, especially the roast potatoes and crackling. What really stood out though was their attitude to families - so very welcoming. An excellent Sunday lunch for families with young children.

We were looking forward to spending Mother's Day lunch at The Grasshopper Inn, Westerham. A lot of parking spaces available meant it was easy to park. The carvery was good, especially the roast potatoes and 4 choices of meat. Unfortunately the soup wasn't very nice, it was cold and the croutons were soft. Dessert was enjoyable. The service was the main thing that let this experience down, from the time it took to receive confirmation of the booking through to the half our wait for my espresso. It would still be worth visiting The Grasshopper Inn for a carvery, but i wouldn't suggest it on peak period days (such as Mother's Day).
